There's been a focus in recent years on doing more with real-time data. Many service companies and operators are now engaged in pre, during and post data analysis to improve and monitor their drilling operations.
In order to support this, we rely more and more on a constant source of data from the rigs. It's known that additional services such as MWD/LWD and mudlogging are not rendered throughout the spud to rig release process. To address this, the direct drilling sensor data collection is now becoming more common.
The drive to collect more data has opened up the ability to cross reference the same data received from different sensors from multiple sources. This cross reference is then used to determine the quality of the data received.
